Must haves for during the workout
Having a spare isn’t only for tires; it works for gym bags, too. Essential spares include socks, water bottle, hair ties or bandanas and headphones. These items are small but when you don’t have them for your workout it feels like a big deal. Keep an extra or two on hand so when one of these essentials gets left behind you still feel prepared.
Must haves after your workout
While you are packing, don’t forget to include some post workout snacks. If you don’t have an ice pack, think about some things that offer needed protein and carbs but don’t require refrigeration. Examples include: nuts and raisins, celery or apples and peanut butter, peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread or rice cakes or a protein bar. If you do have an ice pack you can include things like chocolate milk or yogurt and berries.
The last thing to pack doesn’t actually go in the bag but it is definitely essential – a can do attitude. When it comes to exercise (and most anything else) your attitude really does shape your experience. Regard exercise as an opportunity to take good care of your mind, body and spirit and not as a dreaded chore. You are sure to enjoy it more and likely to stick with it too.
