Football playerEveryone’s got to carve out some time to rest and rejuvenate, even the athletically elite. So, just how does Tom Brady, Serena Williams or LaBron James stay in shape year round—especially when they’re not actively playing? During the off season, athletes mean business, and with a daily workout to prove it. Do you want to look and feel like an athlete yourself? Then, get your head in the game 365 days a year! Here’s how.

Try a Fitness Tool to Change Things Up

It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro boxer or a wannabe marathon runner.  Becoming fit requires dedication. Whether it’s game day or simply a day during off season, it doesn’t matter to an athlete—because their head in in the ‘game’ every single day. Meaning? During the off season when they could technically ‘slack off’, athletes don’t give themselves permission to slip on a workout—and neither should you.

Incorporate a fitness tool, such as FitDeck. Inspired by the Navy Seals, you reach for a card in your deck—each of which offers a different, high intensity workout to devote yourself to for the day. This deck of cards allows you to beat your weight loss plateau (and let’s face it, boredom) with ease.

Incorporate a Class or Two Each Week into Your Workout Routine

It’s easy to get complacent about your workouts. For example, if you’re used to hitting the weights three times a week (because with your busy schedule that’s all you have time for), you can develop the ‘workout woes’. When your mind becomes bored with the same exercises over and over again, guess what? Your body becomes bored, too.  Incorporate a new form of exercise to your workouts, weekly and notice the difference it makes on your fitness and weight loss goals! Commit to a spin class each Monday, head to belly dancing each Saturday. If it’s good enough for athletes to do, isn’t it good enough for you?

Hire a Trainer for Motivation

Do you think athletes are immune to boredom when it comes to their workouts? No way. In fact, they have to work even harder than you do to change up their routine so that their mind and body stays focused, energized and motivated to improve. Stay on top of your game (like they do) by hiring a trainer. Do you want to keep on track? Do you have a new fitness goal that you aren’t quite sure how to achieve? Your trainer knows just what moves to make—and it’s the step you often need to take to accomplish your goals is the shortest period of time.

You don’t have to be a star tennis player, volleyball champion or skilled marathon runner to look—and better yet!—feel like one. Simply do what the athletes do, and reap the benefits because of it!
